Born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska and currently lives and works in the Bay Area of San Francisco, CA. Liza has derived a blend of inspirations from both locations that weave themselves into her creative works and collaborations. She is curious about the relationships between nature, technology and the human experience; specifically of their juxtapositions, influences and symbiotic relationships.
From a young age Liza has expressed herself creatively in multiple mediums and it has continued on into her career, it is part of who she is. Being a multidisciplinary creative has allowed her to embrace more holistic expressions of not only herself and the world around her but has made it easier to collaborate with other artists. She does not perceive nor experience the world through one lens or medium, and purposefully remains open to multiplicity, possibilities and improvisation. She has made works utilizing performance, visual arts and experiential/immersive installations.
In her currently unreleased personal art works she is exploring dried natural materials as sculptural medium, physical terrariums utilizing interactive technology with 3D assets and interactive sculptural works utilizing “trash” as a medium.
Professionally in the last few years she's been a core Affiliate Design Researcher at Institute For The Future (IFTF) in their Emerging Media Lab (EML) where she has curated, consulted, facilitated, produced and researched the broad category of XR/VR/AR/AI.
